As you have seen in the recent post 'Yoga V.S Contortion' you come to think of
the differences between Gymnastics and Contortion.π
Are they even the same thing?
Before we answer that question, you need to know the definitio between Gymnastics and Contortion.
Happy reading!π
Gymnastics
Gymnastics is a sport that includes physical exercises requiring balance, strength, flexibility, agility, coordination, and endurance.
Contortion
The skill of twisting and bending one's body into strange and unnatural positions,
as a form of entertainment.
Now for the differences!
1.Equipment varies
For gymnastics, the equipment starts with beams,
uneven bars and vault.
Of course these are only a few!
Contortion, on the other hand, consists
of hand balancing canes, aerial hoops and aerial silk, just to name a few.π
2.Flexibility level
For the flexibility level, contortion takes on the lead.
Gymnastics also needs flexibility, But contortion needs a lot more!
Contortion needs spinal flexibility as you are twisting into different poses.
3.Strength level
Gymnastics needs more strength as the gymnast needs to do a lot of
tumbling,stretching etc.
Contortion needs strength as well but not as much as gymnasticsπ
That's all we have for today!
Hope you enjoyed it!π
