Hi there!
You have learned the basics of contortion and why you should do it.
But now you question yourself if yoga and contortion are the same thing.
But in this post we are gonna explain how both of these terms aren't similar.
Happy reading!π
Firstly, you should know the meaning of Yoga and Contortion
Contortion: The skill of twisting and bending one's body into strange and unnatural positions, as a form of entertainment.
Yoga: A spiritual and ascetic discipline, a part of which, including breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific bodily postures, is widely practiced for health and relaxation.
Lets move onto those differences!
1: Yoga is a simple exercise
Yoga offers simple exercises for people of all ages.
Anyone can do it any time.
It starts with something as simple as breathing and progresses to higher levels.
The highest level is the contortion basics.
2: Contortion is more advanced
Contortion starts with backbends, splits .
And then ascends to chin stands and advanced backbends.
This is a lot more compared to yoga.
3: Amount of focus given.
For yoga, you need more focus on each movement or pose, as this can help you feel the mind and body work together.
We aren’t saying contortion needs no focus.
Of Course, it needs focus as well because you need to concentrate on every single movement.
But in yoga it needs more focus especially because yoga is basically a game of concentration and meditation, which is widely practiced for health and relaxation.
4:The spirituality
Contortion is not some spiritual well-being.
It is a fast and quick act. It's not going to help in spirituality.
If you want to be more spiritual, yoga is the best option.
You won't be able to see a yogi do an advanced backbend like contortionists.
That's because it doesn't let them concentrate or control their breathing rate.
5:Contortion focuses on speed
Ever see a contortionist sitting cross-legged and taking deep breaths?
Chances are you won’t be able to find one that does!
Contortion is not a ‘take a deep breath and relax”.
It's quite the opposite!
Instead, it's “get up and get moving!”
In Contortion, you will experience a lot of fast actions not slow ones.
That's all we have for today's post!
